Course description

This course teaches the fundamentals of multimedia production for strategic communications. You’ll learn to create compelling content across multiple platforms while developing a critical eye for design, messaging, and audience engagement.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Apply design principles to create professional visual content
  • Write compelling copy for different audiences and platforms
  • Develop research-backed content strategies
  • Build a cohesive multimedia asset package for an organization

Required materials

  • No expensive textbooks required — All readings are free articles and blog posts
  • Access to a computer with internet
  • Free Canva account (use your .edu email for Canva Pro)
  • Google account for Drive and Docs

Course policies

Attendance

Attendance is expected at all class sessions. If you must miss class, notify me in advance when possible.

Late work

Late assignments lose 10% per day. Extensions are available if requested before the due date.

Academic integrity

All work must be your own. Collaboration is encouraged for brainstorming, but final submissions must be individual work unless otherwise specified.

AI use

AI tools are permitted for brainstorming and editing, but you must disclose their use and the final work must represent your own thinking and voice.
